Flood Inspirations
Rogier,
Thank you for the updates! It's a sad thing but yet as you say
if God brings us to it...He'll bring us through it! Stephanie was so glad to be
able to share your story with the viewers through her news story. I hope you
were pleased with how it turned out. It could not do justice like your website
pics do, but at least it offered people a link to see those too! Many of us have
no clue how to help in a situation such as this but it made her feel better to
be able to reach out and put a familiar face with the troubles being endured by
so many. You hold a very special place in the hearts of the WTHI family from
what she tells me...I don't doubt that one bit...you give a great deal of
yourself each time you visit the station! Know that our family is keeping
you and yours in our thoughts and prayers as you seek to restore some order to
your lives on the river.
Blessings,
Linda M.

Rogier,
Very sorry to hear about the loss of your home. I was admiring your website
and noticed how close to us you actually were (we’re in SW Missouri). I
certainly hope you two can get back on your feet soon so nothing will
inhibit your creativity.

God has given the two of you another adventure! I know that you will, as usual,
use the flood as another inspirational lesson in life to help others. I come to
the beautiful setting in Riverview to help and always find that I leave with
much more than I have given. Thanks for being such wonderful blessings and
inspirations to so many!
Love to each,
Bubbleface

Dear Rogier and Ellen,
I was sorry to see that your house had washed away. That will not happen up there. You will be heirs with Christ and will have a guaranteed inheritance that can not be taken from you.
Mother and I are in Naples, Florida, for the winter. The hurricanes did not hit here which helps. She is 94 and paints landscape pictures and gets on the computer and does genealogy. I take pictures with my camera. Take a look at www.GetGreatArt.com I ended up retiring early in order to help with my parents. Dad was in a nursing home for 1 ½ years in Indianapolis. He and Mother celebrated their 67th anniversary before he passed away last April. He was about 96 ½.
I remember when you came to Arsenal Tech High School to our program which was the Indianapolis Public Schools Day Adult High School program, an alternative school for pregnant teens and others. We were a small program within Tech. I had to wait a year before you came since IPS did not have you as the one to fix kilns even though you had applied and the previous gentlemen had died. You fixed the kiln just fine. It had had a melt down before I came to the school and could have been photographed for an example of what not to do! Meanwhile a senior citizen donated his potter’s wheel and all of his equipment to Day Adult High School. The kind Tech pottery teacher from Bloomington, Indiana, helped me to get the equipment and helped me to prepare the clay. That was quite an asset.
May the good Lord uphold you through this trial and may you prosper in spite of these difficulties.
Sincerely,
Diana J. Hunter

Holy-moly, Rogier, how did the tsunami get so inland?
Is there anything (short of money) that you need?
(Duh, stupid, it is only money that is needed, huh?)
Clinton (caring but stupid)

Your pictures tell 'the story'. Your safety is the prime factor. Who
would have guessed the guest house would be a saving grace for the 2 of you.
It has been the way station for others and certainly continues its heritage.
May God give you the direction for the future.

Hello Rogier,
I would like to express my sympathy on the loss of your home. The photos on
the web tell only part of the story. I can imagine how devastated you and
your wife must feel. Fortunately, no one was injured, and the studio and
trains were untouched (thank goodness, the trains are safe!). The bricks and
mortar can be replaced, and it appears the funds to do so are on the way.
You have many pleasant memories of the old home, and you have the will and
the skills to re-build an even better home. Be sure to post photos as
construction progresses.
Best regards,
Alan C.
